Three hearing aids. One honest receipt.

Hearing aids, itemized to the cent.

Most premium hearing aids cost $3,000–$6,000 because of clinic markups, audiologist visits, brand premiums, and retail margins. We sell three FDA-OTC hearing aids at the actual cost of making them, plus a fair 20%. Here's the receipt.

My audiologist quoted me $4,800. I almost gave up on hearing aids entirely. These are honestly indistinguishable from what she was selling me, and I paid $399. My only regret is I waited three years.

Bought the Invisible

First time in years I can actually follow a conversation at the dinner table when all the grandkids are talking at once. The receipt thing? Honestly that's what made me trust them. Nobody else shows you the math.

I've been refusing hearing aids for ten years because I didn't want to look old. The Earbud model just looks like wireless earbuds — nobody knows. My wife is the happiest person about it. So am I.

Real moments

The things you stop missing once you can hear again.

Not specs. Not features. Just the small, ordinary moments that make up a life — the ones you didn't realize you were quietly losing.

Why $399–$499 (not $4,000)

You're not paying less. You're paying for less stuff you didn't want.

A typical premium hearing aid costs $3,000–$6,000. Less than $400 of that is the actual device. Here's where the rest of the money goes — and what we removed.

  • Audiologist appointments (3–6 visits)−$900
  • Clinic / brick-and-mortar overhead−$700
  • Big-brand marketing + sponsorships−$600
  • Retail middleman markup−$500
  • "Premium tier" rebranding fee−$400
  • Sales commission−$300

What we kept

The clinical-grade chip. The 16-channel processing. The Bluetooth. The self-fitting hearing test. The 3-year warranty. The 45-day risk-free trial. Every part of the device that actually helps you hear.

A note from the founder

Why we won't ever hide our pricing.

My mother put off hearing aids for eight years because the cheapest pair her audiologist offered was $4,200. By the time she finally got them, she'd missed birthday calls, family dinners, and conversations with her grandchildren she'll never get back.

I started Cost Plus Hearing because I learned the actual device costs less than $400 to manufacture. The rest is overhead and markup nobody talks about. We refuse to charge for things we didn't do — no clinics, no commissioned salespeople, no premium tier rebranding. Just the hearing aids, the receipt, and a fair 20% margin.

If you ever find a line item on our receipt you don't understand — email me at support@costplushearing.com.

Honest answers

Questions worth asking when hearing aids cost $399 instead of $4,000.

Which Cost Plus Hearing model is right for me?

Pick by what matters most. The Invisible ($399) sits inside your ear canal, is pre-tuned out of the box, and adjusts volume on the charging case — designed for elderly users and anyone who wants the simplest, most discreet experience (no app, no ear-touching in public). The Behind-the-Ear ($499) is the workhorse — most powerful, 16-channel, full Bluetooth — best for moderate-to-severe hearing loss. The Earbud ($499) looks like wireless earbuds for stigma-free everyday wear. All three come with the same 45-day trial — you can order more than one and return the others.

Do I need to use an app for the Invisible model?

No. Cost Plus Invisible Hearing Aids are pre-tuned at the factory — just take them out of the box, plug them in, and put them in your ears. There's no app, no self-fitting test, and no setup. Volume adjusts using the buttons on the charging case, so the wearer never has to fiddle with the device in their ear — useful for elderly users and anyone who wants total discretion in public. The Behind-the-Ear and Earbud models do use a free 5-minute self-fitting app for personalized tuning.

Are they actually as good as $3,000–$6,000 hearing aids?

For mild-to-moderate hearing loss — yes. All three Cost Plus models use clinical-grade DSP processing, adaptive noise reduction, and (on Behind-the-Ear and Earbud) Bluetooth streaming found in premium prescription devices. What you're missing isn't technology — it's three audiologist visits and a clinic's rent. The 45-day trial exists so you can verify this on your own ears.

How are you able to sell them this cheap?

We sell direct. No clinics, no audiologist commissions, no retail markup, no brand-tier upcharge. We list every cost on the receipt — components, testing, packaging, warranty reserve — add a fixed 20% margin, and that's the price.

Are Cost Plus Hearing aids HSA/FSA eligible?

Yes. All three Cost Plus Hearing models are FDA-OTC certified medical devices and qualify for HSA and FSA spending. You can pay with your HSA/FSA card at checkout, or submit your receipt for reimbursement.

Will Medicare or insurance cover them?

Original Medicare doesn't cover hearing aids (no matter the brand or price). Some Medicare Advantage plans do — and because Cost Plus Hearing aids are FDA-OTC certified, they usually qualify. Check with your specific plan.

Can I try more than one model?

Yes. Lots of customers order two models, try both, and send back the one that's not the right fit. Both will arrive with the same 45-day clock — full refund on whichever you return, no restocking fee, free return shipping.

What if I need help fitting them?

Email us at support@costplushearing.com. A real human (not a chatbot) will walk you through the self-fitting test, ear dome sizing, and Bluetooth pairing. No charge, ever.

What happens after the 3-year warranty?

If anything breaks during the warranty period, we repair or replace it free, including the rechargeable batteries. After 3 years, you can buy a replacement at our cost-plus price — same transparent receipt.

Ready to try

Three hearing aids. Three honest receipts.

If they don't change how you hear at the dinner table, send them back. You're out nothing. If they do — you just saved $3,000.
